Love Falls Like Rain

Love Falls Like Rain

rain outside
driving alone
on the way to nowhere
trying to feel something
like love

(Inspired by listening to
Barber's Adagio for Stings)

In a Well-Ordered Universe

In a Well-Ordered Universe...

In a well-ordered universe
I wouldn't be myself
I wouldn't be so messed up
wouldn't need mental help

I wouldn't hurt people
or lose the ones I love
I wouldn't hate myself so much
my family would think I'm enough

Suicide would never happen
at funerals we wouldn't cry
no more people killing themselves
not having to wonder why they wanted to die

In a well-ordered universe
no one would be handicapped
there wouldn't be insecurities
the innocent wouldn't be attacked

There would be no rape
no more PTSD
there wouldn't be victims
survivors are all we'd see

There would be no racism
no more discrimination
we wouldn't hear or say racial slurs
only love across all nations

In a well-ordered universe
everyone has hope
there would still be tragic accidents
but everyone could cope

There wouldn't ever be a miscarriage
all parents would stay with and love their children
Mommies or daddies wouldn't just up and leave
no child would look at themself as a sin

Police brutality wouldn't exist
no one would have ever made any drugs
these foreign substances wouldn't enter our bodies
addicts would be addicted to hugs

In a well-ordered universe
I would be myself
everyone would have self-love
and instead of degrading
we'd give each other help

Poetry Guy

Poetry Guy

Poetry guy comes every other Sunday.
When it's that week we can hardly wait.
We are grateful for what you do for us.
You teach us how to express ourselves
and how to write.
We get so excited to hear the words
"Can somebody go get the Poetry Guy?"
That means he is here.
We no longer have to hide.
He brings in stories and is always
up to date on the latest events that
have taken place.
Poetry Guy, we are glad you come in.
We are inspired by all the poems you bring.
You bring your binder and copy down your notes.
You see who we really are.
You don't take us as a joke.
So long story short, thank you for your time.
We are excited to see you next time.

Sitting in My Room

Sitting in My Room

~Group Poem by TP4, in which each writer contributed at least one 3 line stanza.

My room is made of bricks
It isn't much but a shelf, bed, and desk
It has a window but I can't see out of it

Sitting in my room
Just enjoying the view
I still can't stop thinking about you

I count the bricks
The time just ticks on by
My choices have led me to this

My mind is playing tricks
Looking at these dirty white bricks
Boogers here and there
Hair balls everywhere!

My room is an 8 by 8
It's very small
My room has a door but it's not like I can choose to leave

1...2...3...faces in the wall
Which one should I talk to
Because I like them all

Sitting in my room
Waiting to be called for bathroom
But all I can do is sweep with this broom

In my room I spend a lot of time worrying
I also spend time wondering
Trust me, every day I hate this place more and more

Don't look, you'll die
Just a side eye
She saw me, there go my points.

My room is sad
It's very dull
Compared to other rooms you'll notice it's incredibly small

The walls are closing in on me
Claw marks on the windows
Screams are everywhere

I feel like bouncing off these walls
My anxiety is going
Just thinking of all these flaws in my wall

Looking in through the glass
You see a girl who is hurt
And dealing with depression.

In my room I dream
About what life could possibly be
But outside is hard to picture.

Sitting in my room
I'm lost to the outside world
Or maybe I never existed in it at all

Locked in a room like I'm locked in my mind
Giving up slowly
Wishing away the time

Worrying about my panels
Trying to use my coping skills
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 things that are happy

The regrets for what I did
Can't go back
There's only one way

This I've grown to know
You'd think I'd go insane
But I'm so used to it

Yes my room may be tons of terrible things
But for now it has what I need
Till I see what freedom can bring

My window is too small and not even clear
I wish I could see the moon
I wish I could see home

Sticks & Stones

Sticks & Stones

We all heard that saying:
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
but them words would never hurt me.”
That may be true
but is it reality?
Cause them words may not hurt me
but they stay with me
Hide deep down within me
Haunt me, tear me
Scare me, tease me
Those words live in me
Feed off me
Emotionally drain me
Those sticks and stones only hurt temporarily
But those words drive me into insanity
So, “Sticks and stones may break my bones,
but them words would never hurt me”
Is that reality
Or is it sophistry?
Maybe it’s true metaphorically
But literally
We need a new saying like:
Sticks and stones may break my bones
but them words could emotionally
kill me.”

Life's Mystery *

Life’s Mystery

Life is a mystery
One that never seems to be solved
All answers beyond what the eye can see
Through all life’s twists and turns
Through hate that burns
And love that mourns
This mystery is never solved
More and more everyday people lie
To hide what’s hidden on the inside
More and more everyday people try
To get away from the corrupted outside
But they get nowhere
Stuck in between the here and there
Where no one seems to care
Outside is filled with tears and laughter
Along with poor miscommunication
But all that’s gone when you enter the hereafter
Along with rich information
About the pain of roses
About the door that closes
And how money poses
In this life that’s filled with sensations
The question is why to we hate
Those who are kind
And love the ones that are now late?
And for an answer I get a question
With dirty looks from dirty faces
Not to mention
The failed riots, protests, and interventions
There’s no answer to the question
That troubles my black and white mind
To ease my troubled mind
I take a sip
Then my heart and soul come to life
Into memory lane I take a dip
Not realizing I’m causing strife
With the hurt and pain I’m collecting
My insides suddenly projecting
The help that I’m now neglecting
Then there’s the little boys and girls
Sucked into deception and temptation
By the big bad cruel world
They use this as an excuse to fill sensation
To be the baddest kids around
To clarify their silent cries at night that don’t make a sound
To show why they starve themselves to lose a pound
And explain why they live their life in desperation
Life is a mystery
One that never seems to be solved
And never will be

RIP Orlando

RIP Orlando

All I can say is Rest In Peace to Orlando
All of those injured and dead, I can't even fathom though
Innocent people trying to have a good time with their Bro's
But a savage attacker had to ruin that, though...
Shaking my head...

All I can say is Rest In Peace to Orlando
Know now I have all those suffering in my prayers
Getting through your emotions will be a lot of layers
You might want to seek revenge but you're in peace, not a slayer

All I can say is Rest In Peace to Orlando
I would be lying if I said I know how you're feeling
But I know it must be hard to be strong and dealing
You probably will have nights waiting for things to go back to normal, starring at the ceiling

All I can say is Rest In Peace to Orlando
I lost loved ones so I know how it felt.
I'm only 17 but I was younger when I dealt.
But please be strong, firm like a seat belt
Because there's a long ride you take entering life

All I can say is Rest In Peace to Orlando
These may not be the words you want to hear
You probably trying to make this right and crystal clear
But just stay level headed cause good times are near.

All I can say is Rest In Peace to Orlando
My heart goes out to you all
And I'm so, so, so, so sorry for your loss.

Doors

Doors

Two doors,
one to heaven,
one to hell.
I'ma tell you why
you shouldn't put
your soul up for sale.
At first it's a good idea right,
popularity and cash
you could change from a nobody
to somebody fast.
Gettin' that money
bein' on TV it's a blast.
But you'll definitely be sick
when you're just an eternally burnin'
pile of ash.
I hear these dudes talkin'
about sellin' their souls
to be rich.
Sounds good except there's
just a little glitch and that's
when you're sittin' in hell for the rest of
your life on fire saying this
is a _itch.

You Don't Know Me

You Don't Know Me

You see that I am angry.
You see that I am defiant.
But you don't know me.

You would know me if...
You knew how hard it was to not be terrified
You knew how I feel sometimes that I'm own my own
You knew how I felt forced to do the things I do.

You see that I run with the wrong crowd.
You see that I don't hold back.
But you don't know me.

You would know me if...
You knew how I was in my own world
You knew how I was fighting a losing battle in my head.
You knew how I was vulnerable as a child growing up.

Finish Line (written after the Boston Marathon bombing)

Finish Line

Don't rush, don't hesitate, don't pace at all,
because there's always a finish line.
You might have people you care for and haven't seen in
decades cheering you on.
But turn back.
Why? might be your question.
But, where? is the one preferred.
Where is my son?
Where is my sister?
Where is my daughter?
Where is my brother?
Please tell me where are my loved ones!
My only answers are that they're in your thoughts, in your
hearts, in your pictures, in every tear that you will or had
already shed, in the other people that'll remind you of them,
and, most importantly, in the skies looking down on you.
I can't make the scars be forever unnoticed.
But I can make the pain and tears go away.
There will be much more news.
There will be many more memories.
And, horribly, there would be many more acts of terror.
I'm the only one who can tell.
And who am I?
I am Father Time.
                                                                                                           I'm sorry.
                                                                                                                      Rest In Peace
